Our Story
River City School of Leadership started with a dream to impact the Richmond, VA area through quality Biblical education, spiritual impartation, practical local church application, and classroom collaboration. Several local church pastors united with a common vision to train and equip local church leaders within the RVA area with basic doctrinal and theological instruction from qualified teachers with Master’s Degrees or higher (or with equivalent ministry experience) who are serving as either leaders or local church pastors within the Central Virginia area. The goal of the school is simple: contribute to building leaders that will impact their local churches and serve the overall community.
Our Leadership
As you consider investing your heart, time, family, and finances into the our school, it is important for you to feel confident in our leadership. Our goal in sharing information about River City’s leadership and faith is that you will understand that our school is structured to support the values of interim, accountability, and spiritual authority.
Our Faculty
River City School of Leadership believes in both educational excellence and practical local church application. The faculty includes those on our board in addition to others with whom the board is in relationship.
All our faculty members have served or led the local church for many years and believe in the Local Church. Proof of this love for the church can be seen in the service of our faculty members. Many of the faculty members at River City are current Lead Pastors, former Lead or Founding Pastors.
All faculty members at River City School of Leadership have Master’s Degrees or above, ensuring knowledgeability, practical understanding, and quality Biblical education. We believe in presenting our best and giving our students a great education.
Statement of Faith
Jesus talked about the two greatest commandments and loving God is the first part of it. We want people to enter a life-giving and life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. You won’t truly be fulfilled until you connect with your Creator and the purpose He has for your life. In John 10:10, Jesus said that he came to give abundant life. Our heart is to introduce people to the love of God and the personal purpose that each of us has in Him. (Matt. 22:37-40; John 10:10)
The second part of what Jesus discussed is to love people. We want to do everything we can to show the love of God to everyone. There are many ways that we communicate his love to our community and to the world. The Bible tells us that people know who we are by the ways that we show God’s love to others. (John 13:35; Mark 12:28-31)

The financial investment for each course is $250. Most students will elect to take two courses in a given semester. For new students there is a one-time $25 administration fee.
River City School of Leadership is not accredited and does not issue degrees to its students. We are a certificate granting organization.
Each course at River City runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes and lasts for 12 weeks.
The courses are dynamic, meaning that there will be time for both collaboration and impartation. There will be a syllabus for every course so that the student knows exactly what to expect.
Courses meet on Monday evenings in Henrico and Tuesday evenings in Chesterfield. Classes are also streamed live. See campus information here.
Yes, we offer a quality online experience. All our courses are streamed live, and online students are able to interact with the class through messaging.
